Stove:
Keep pots and pans covered with properly fitted lids when cooking. This keeps
the heat in. Always use the right size pots or pans for the size of your stove's
burner. This keeps heat and energy from escaping. If you have gas service to the
home, consider buying a gas stove next time you need a new one. Turn your stove
and range down to a simmer as soon as food or water begins to boil. This lower
setting maintains cooking temperature, cooks food more evenly and saves energy.
Consider using the microwave as an alternative to cooking on the stove. Also, the
microwave is a good way to warm water and make the stove work less to boil it!
Clean the heating elements (glass if glass top) regularly to keep them heating
efficiently.
